What To Do When You See A Lost Dog
Stop moving and remain calm. BREATHE!
Do not call out or whistle at the dog.
Drop to the ground, avoid eye contact, angle your body & pretend to ignore the dog.
Use slow and quiet movements.
Act like you are eating - crinkle a bag/wrapper & smack your lips.
Let treats fall in front of as you are “eating”
Be patient! Let the dog build trust & see that you are not a threat.
Once the dog is interested, try expanding the area you are dropping treats by rolling/gently tossing them closer to the dog.
Slowly lure the dog closer & closer until you earn their trust and can get a leash on it.
NO LUCK?
