What To Do When You See A Lost Dog

  • Stop moving and remain calm. BREATHE!

  • Do not call out or whistle at the dog.

  • Drop to the ground, avoid eye contact, angle your body & pretend to ignore the dog.

  • Use slow and quiet movements.

  • Act like you are eating - crinkle a bag/wrapper & smack your lips.

  • Let treats fall in front of as you “eating”

  • Be patient! Let the dog build trust & see that you are not a threat.

  • Once the dog is interested, try expanding the area you are dropping treats by rolling/gently tossing them closer to the dog.

  • Slowly lure the dog closer & closer until you can get a leash on it.

NO LUCK?
